Children are our Focus

"A school isn't good enough until it is good enough for our own children. In fact it is not only that it must be good enough for our own children, but it must be the dream school we want for our own children." H. Levin Professor of Economics-Standford

Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year!

P.140K is committed to providing a quality education to our students. We consider the worth and value of each child, and strive to meet his or her individual needs. Our curriculum and instructional practice build skills and thinking strategies that will empower students to be independent and successful throughout their lives.

Just as important as building a strong academic foundation is the formation and strengthening of good citizenship. Students are encouraged to be responsible and be fully engaged in their own learning. Our goal is to equip our students with the fundamentals necessary to be successful, while fostering the capability to utilize 21st Century tools to enhance their learning.

P.140K is a very special place. We are comprised of a group of individuals who share the  common belief, that effective schools are built around relationships and interactions among individuals focused on learning.

We are fortunate to have an involved and supportive PTA that plans enriching events and activities to assist us in providing a meaningful educational experience and a strong home-school link.

If you have never visited P.140K in person, then it is my hope that through this website you are able to gain an insight into our school and the individuals who make it the strong and dynamic learning community that it is. On behalf of the faculty and staff, I would like to thank you for visiting our website. We look forward to a challenging and exciting year working with you as partners in you child's education.

Sincerely,
M. Carpenter
Principal

The first quarter of the school year was busy and productive for all at P.140K. As we move quickly into the second quarter and the holiday season, I would like to personally thank all of the parents and guardians who attended our Parent Teacher conferences. I sincerely believe that communication between home and school is one of the keys to successful student outcomes.

Our students have participated in several school wide events and PBIS initiatives so far this year. Field Day, Fall Harvest, Dress for Success and Thanksgiving Feast just to name a few. Our student government will be working throughout the year with the building campus to plan and organize several student sponsored events.
