Happy New Year! It is so hard to believe that we are now in the month and year of January, 2010. Time is surely passing by quickly and P140k is keeping up with the speed. During the month of January we are continuing instruction as usual. We continue to work diligently with your children to meet their social and academic goals for the school year. Parents remember to check with your child's classroom teacher on how you can assist in preparing your child for the upcoming ELA and Math state exams which will take place in the months of April and May.
During the Month of January we have several events, projects and trips planned for your child. First, we have a Martin Luther King Jr. Contest for all students. P140k will have their PBIS New Years celebration on January 13th. P140k's basketball team The Brooklyn Hot Shots will play against P.169M on January 15th and P.369K on January 29th. P140k's student government will be visiting City Hall on January 22nd.
As a reminder school is closed On January 19, 2010 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr's. Birthday.

The first quarter of the school year was busy and productive for all at P.140K. As we move quickly into the second quarter and the holiday season, I would like to personally thank all of the parents and guardians who attended our Parent Teacher conferences. I sincerely believe that communication between home and school is one of the keys to successful student outcomes.
Our students have participated in several school wide events and PBIS initiatives so far this year. Field Day, Fall Harvest, Dress for Success and Thanksgiving Feast just to name a few. Our student government will be working throughout the year with the building campus to plan and organize several student sponsored events.
As a reminder school is closed November 26th-29th for the Thanksgiving Holiday.
On behalf of the P.140k administration and staff I would like to wish you and your family a safe and Happy Thanksgiving. Enjoy this time with your family and friends.
